Our plane out of Calgary was delayed 35 minutes, not a big deal but after 5 hours in the terminal we were ready to get going. Our seats on the plane were a little cramped but not ridiculous. I might be biased but the view over Alberta wasn’t quite as nice as the rockies, it’s a little unsettling how flat the land is.
There were little screens with free movies and TV shows on the plane and we got a single free meal, along with banana bread for breakfast. The flight took us over night to Amsterdam. I managed to get a little sleep along the way, Morgan wasn’t as lucky. We arrived at around noon Amsterdam time, 3:00am Vancouver time.

We managed to get to the hostel with only a little confusion, everyone speaks very good English and are helpful. We took a larger train then a tram car, then walked along a canal to the hostel. Amsterdam is beautiful although we haven’t really had a chance to experience it yet.

The hostel is nice. We are in a room with three sets of bunk beds, sharing a bathroom. There is a bar on the ground floor where I am currently writing this, drinking a tall Heineken. Apparently there is some sort of night club downstairs, maybe we will have a look tonight.
I am looking forward to exploring the city, going on tours, seeing attractions, and partying here in Amsterdam. Unfortunately this is will be one of our shorter stays and I expect we will take some time to adjust but it may turn out to be one of the most interesting and fun cities we visit.
I am hoping to do another post on the train to Berlin, hopefully I will have more to talk about then airports, planes, and public transit.
